Kurt : The Movie
Posted By: Liam | Posted: Sun 14 Jan 2007 4:28am GMT
Courtney Love has revealed the first details of a forthcoming Kurt Cobain biopic.
The former Hole star and widow of the Nirvana singer says the proposed movie will be based on the acclaimed Charles R Cross biography "Heavier Than Heaven".
In a posting on www.moonwashdrose.com, she explained there are two actors in the running to play Kurt, while producers are understood to have settled on their Courtney.
"I can't name names but you'll all be happy. I personally think 'me' is a little too pretty, but I've talked with her and she assures me I'm full of sh*t...", she said.
"He is a choice between two actors. One, everyone thinks of as sweet and perfect and unassuming, but who does have a lot of rage in him, the other wears his rage well..."
Gus Van Sant's "Last Days", from 2005, is thought to be based on the final weeks of the life of Kurt Cobain.

Glasto ticket details revealed
Posted By: Liam | Posted: Sun 14 Jan 2007 4:07am GMT
Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis revealed this week he hopes to completely eradicate ticket touts at this year's festival by introducing a new security measure.
The famed music and arts festival returns this year after a year's lay-off to allow the ground time to recover - and could see its attendance rise to a whopping 137,500 with a possible 25,000 increase in the works.
Eavis also revealed how we hopes to sidestep ticket resellers, who try to buy up great quantities of tickets to resell at a higher price on auction sites like eBay. The people who buy the tickets on April 1 will be the people who are actually coming to the festival," he said, revealing people who wish to purchase tickets on April 1st will be required to register their details, along with a passport sized photo, from February 1-28.
Eavis is currently awaiting local councillors to grant the capacity increase, and as soon as he's given the green light, the festival boss plans to extend the site into a neighbouring farmers land to cope with the increase, as well as adding more parking, camping and entertainment facilities.
"We are extending the site with another 100 acres, bringing the total to 1,200 going west towards Glastonbury", Eavis added to The Western Daily Press. "It seems such a huge success and we have so much room here that we will be using a lot of neighbouring farmers' land - it's an alternative land use which in the present climate is good news."
Subject to the license being granted, Glastonbury 2007 will take place over the weekend of June 22-24.

Stone Sour means no Slipknot...
Posted By: Liam | Posted: Sun 14 Jan 2007 3:56am GMT
...unti 2008!
STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has told MTV.com that the band's current success means he and guitarist Jim Root won't be able to devote their energy to SLIPKNOT until early 2008. While this seems to contradict percussionist M. Shawn Crahan's claim that the 'KNOT would be writing together next fall or early summer, Taylor said he never planned to do much with the band in 2007.
"I just don't see anything serious happening until the beginning of early 2008," he reiterated. "But that was my plan from the get-go. Between recording and touring for 'Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses', we spent two and a half years, and that period was just so f---in' crazy that you kind of have to give it at least that much equal time to settle down and get the interest back up."
STONE SOUR is planning on filming a video soon for its new single, "Sillyworld". The band plans to hire an animator for the clip, which Taylor hopes will be a cross between PINK FLOYD's "The Wall" and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's video for "Go With the Flow". "There will be a little principal photography, but mostly it'll be animated," Taylor said. "We definitely want to do something that fits with the different themes of the song, but at the same time is really cool to watch."
Taylor said that he has a director in mind for "Sillyworld", but the deal hasn't yet been sealed. He added that STONE SOUR won't stop at three singles. While "Sillyworld" is making the rounds in the U.S., "Socio" will be released in Europe, and if the European single and video do well, they will likely be released here in the future. Also, Taylor wants to cap off the "Come What(ever) May" crusade with "Zzyzx Rd.", which should hit radio and video outlets in late 2007.

MACHINE HEAD will be releasing their new album, The Blackening, through Roadrunner Records this Spring, and among the various finishing touches being made, you can now view the final cover artwork online here.
MACHINE HEAD frontman Robert Flynn recently explained to TheGauntlet.com: "It's a metal carving from the 1500s. Back then they used a lot of crude metal carving images, almost as propaganda. It was kind of like scaring people about going to hell or whatever. A lot of it had to do with devils and death and stuff like that. They were eventually banned."

Oasis have revealed the stunning video for ‘The Masterplan’, the second video to be taken from their ‘collectors’ EP - released on November 13th. The EP features ‘The Masterplan’ and another one of their classic B Sides and widely regarded as ‘the greatest single that never was’, ‘Acquiesce’.
The Stop The Clocks EP is a preview from the first ever Oasis ‘Best Of’, released on 20th November.
‘The Masterplan’ video was directed by Ben and Greg, who first found fame with Soho Rushes Award nominated short for The Streets “When You Wasn’t Famous” (Prof Green remix) this year. This animated film sees Oasis transported into a stunning world based entirely on the paintings of legendary northern artist L.S Lowry, including subtle modern day twists and detailing. The video was made with the Lowry estate’s blessing and is a faithful representation of the artist’s world of industrial Salford in the post war years.

The Kooks' singer Luke Pritchard has spoken out on the illness that forced the band to postpone their recent UK tour.

"It's been so frustrating, especially when we turned up at Brighton, our hometown. I felt so bad for all the people who'd bought tickets."

Smashing Pumpkins have spoken out on their comeback album which they are currently writing.
On the band's MySpace page, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has spoken about the progress of the record:
"Great things are on track for the future. As some of you know we are indeed creating music again. Music that comes from a place so pure it will burn the lies off the very souls of those who try to discount it.
"We have arrived at a place in our lives where truth and honesty prevail and we are creating from that place.
"Working with RTB was not only an honour but also one of the best musical experiences we have ever had," he explained. "We are currently working with Terry Date (Pantera, Soundgarden) and that is going great as well.
"The universe has a way of letting you know that things are right by introducing people like RTB and Terry into the fold. It's all part of one big cosmic journey, in so that everyone reading this is hitching their silver chord to the Great Pumpkin Space Train! Hope this helps clear some things up for you."
